Family Day and Aviation Display
Join us for the ninth annual Become a Pilot Day on June 15, 2013 from 10 am to 3 pm! The event is held at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, located in Chantilly, VA, near Washington Dulles International Airport. You’ll see nearly 50 visiting vintage, recreational, and home-built aircraft at an outdoor display for one day only, and enjoy indoor presentations and activities for all ages.
Solar Impulse News
Solar Impulse has been delayed due to weather and will not be appearing at Become a Pilot Day.
However, the aircraft will be in flight from Cincinnati to the Udvar-Hazy Center piloted by explorer and Solar Impulse co-founder Bertrand Piccard, and visitors can watch a live feed of the flight in the James S. McDonnell Space Hangar all day Saturday, June 15, from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm.
In addition, at 2:30 pm in the Udvar-Hazy Center classroom, visitors can join Solar Impulse co-founder and pilot André Borschberg as he talks live to Piccard during the flight.
Solar Impulse will be on display on Sunday, June 16 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm outside the Udvar-Hazy Center. Learn more about visiting Solar Impulse on Sunday.
